Etsy Fee Calculator 2025: Transaction, Payment, and Offsite Ad Costs

Etsy’s fee structure confuses new sellers because charges happen at multiple stages: listing, transaction, payment processing, and sometimes offsite ads. This guide explains every Etsy fee and how to calculate true profit per sale.

Listing Fees

Etsy charges $0.20 per listing. Each listing lasts four months or until sold. If you sell multiples from one listing, it auto-renews at $0.20 per item sold. Digital listings work the same way.

Transaction Fees

The transaction fee is 6.5% of the total sale price including shipping and gift wrapping. This applies to every transaction regardless of payment method.

Payment Processing Fees

For Etsy Payments, the processing fee is 3% of the total sale price plus $0.25 per transaction. Rates vary slightly by country. If you use PayPal, PayPal sets its own rates, typically similar.

Offsite Ads Fees

Etsy runs ads on Google and Facebook. If a buyer clicks an offsite ad and purchases within 30 days, you pay an advertising fee. This is 15% for sellers with less than $10,000 in annual Etsy revenue, and 12% above that threshold. Offsite ads are mandatory for sellers under $10,000.

Using the Calculator

Our Etsy profit calculator factors in every fee automatically. Input your listing price, shipping charged, shipping cost, material cost, and whether the sale came from offsite ads.

Example: A $35 handmade item with $5 shipping, $4 shipping cost, $10 materials, and no offsite ad:

  • Transaction fee (6.5%): $2.60
  • Payment processing: $1.45
  • Listing fee: $0.20
  • Net profit: $21.75

If the same sale comes from an offsite ad, subtract another 15% ($6.00), dropping profit to $15.75.

Pricing Strategy

Many Etsy sellers underprice because they forget offsite ads. Price as if every sale comes from offsite ads. If some sales are organic, the extra margin becomes bonus profit.

Tips to Reduce Etsy Costs

  • Encourage direct traffic through social media to avoid offsite ad fees.
  • Bundle items to spread listing fees across higher basket values.
  • Use calculated shipping so buyers pay exact costs, reducing your transaction fee base.
